The Biker

This is one of the best paintings by Anna.  It reflects a fraction of a second of the reality of a morning in the woods and this short moment contains whatever may be caught by the eye of a bystander. It is a very dynamic landscape. We can only guess whether the vehicle is a dyssonant that disturbs the majestic order of the created World, or it belongs here since gravel road was designed to travel upon.  The composition here, purposedly or not, expresses speed, kinetics of mass condensed in a piece of metal in connection with a live human being, that is charging straight toward us.  The biker, pretending to be only an addition to the picture, but who really is a main theme, just exited one point of attention to be at the other one, located diagonally in the picture frame. The machine is too fast for the eye of the spectator to follow the movement. The object rides for simple fun through the middle of a pool, raising crystals of water droplets.

What is a destination of the biker at this time of a day?  Maybe he (or she as the artist maintains) is rushing to a date?  Maybe she is coming back home?  Perhaps, a night before, she was at a bonfire, baking potatoes and newspaper-wrapped sausage in hot ashes and drinking beer.  Then, she might have taken an outdoor nap and now she is going back to her parents' house.  They must be worried somewhat about their daughter whereabouts...

In a short while the motorcycle will pass, its roar will hush and the Nature voices will gradually resume to their full extend.  Let's not spook.  Let's admire a storm of colors typical for late summer or early fall, in the light of morning sun.  Look at the way the details are shown in the shade as well as in the full light.  This is what makes the painting art superior to photography.  We can here see both, statics and dynamics of the scene better than we would on a movie or TV screen.

An old man, not being able to sleep, raised from his bed and took his dog for a walk.  He appeared behind the curve so suddenly that there was no time to slow down.  Fortunately, at the time, he was not close to the water pool.  The dog following his hunter's instinct, run after the bike for a while but soon he gave up and came back to the man's heel.  Grandpa wants to see if he can carve someting from a piece of a fallen birch tree on the opposite side of the road.  Maybe a woodem spoon for his kitchen.  Maybe a toy tallship for his grandaughter.  But now the dog has to be called back since he started chasing a rabbit.

Well, this is the Nature...
